Lumyna01 / Get started
Lumyna plays the audio files you bring to it. You do not need a Lumyna account. Version 1.2 requires iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS 26 or later.
- Get Lumyna from the App Store and open it.
- Open Songs, then use the import button to choose your audio files.
- Tap a song on iPhone or iPad, or double-click one on Mac, to begin listening.
- Open the artwork or title in the player bar for Now Playing.
A local seven-day playback trial begins on first launch. It does not enroll you in a subscription. See Aurora for what happens after the trial.
02 / Import music
Supported file extensions are MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, and AIFF. The file must contain readable audio; renaming an unsupported file does not convert it.
On iPhone and iPad
Use the import button in the library header. Select audio through the Files picker and allow the import to finish. Lumyna copies the selected files into its local storage. You can also open a supported audio document with Lumyna from another app and confirm the import.
On Mac
Open Songs, Albums, or Artists and click + to choose audio files. A normal import creates a local copy in Lumyna, just as it does on iPhone and iPad. Duplicate imports are skipped with a notice.
Connect a Mac music folder
To keep audio in its current location, go to Settings → Library → Music folders → Add folder… and select the folder. These songs are referenced in place instead of copied. Keep the folder and any external drive available when you listen.
Removing a linked folder removes its entries from Lumyna; it does not delete the original audio files. Recently Deleted entries associated with that folder are also forgotten. Keep your original music backed up.
03 / Find your music
Browse Songs, Albums, Artists, and Playlists. Use search to find an item and sort to change the order. Music with missing metadata appears under Unknown Album or Unknown Artist.
iPhone and iPad
iPhone uses tabs at the bottom. iPad switches between a bottom dock and a side rail as the window grows or shrinks. Search opens in the current library page; choose a result to open it, or Cancel to return.
Touch and hold a song for actions including Play next, Play last, Add to playlist, Edit song, and favorites. Swipe right on supported library rows to toggle a favorite. A star marks favorite songs.
Mac
Use the side rail to move through your library. Search and sort sit in the top bar. The sort menu also offers Favorites only. Right-click or Control-click an item for its available actions.
Press Command-F to search the library, or Command-comma to open Settings. Keyboard commands act on the current window; close an editor before searching the library.
04 / Playback & queue
Choose a song to start playback in the order of the current collection. Use play/pause, previous, next, shuffle, repeat, and the progress control to move through it. On iPhone and iPad, tapping the currently playing song pauses or resumes it without restarting it.
Open Now Playing
On iPhone, tap the mini player or swipe it up. Swipe sideways on the mini player to change tracks. On iPad, tap the artwork or identity area of the player bar. On Mac, click the artwork or title in the bottom bar.
On iPhone and iPad, swipe down to close Now Playing. On Mac, use Back to return to the library. When the playback source at the top names a library collection, selecting it returns to that collection.
Arrange what comes next
Use Play next or Play last from a song’s menu to add it to the queue. Open Up Next from the player to review it.
- iPhone and iPad: tap a queued song to play it, hold and drag to reorder, or swipe left to remove it. Earlier entries from the source collection can remain visible and playable.
- Mac: click a queue row to play it, and use its menu to move or remove it. The library’s queue appears at the right. Now Playing also shows playback history from the current session.
Removing a queue entry changes the listening order; it does not delete the song from your library.
Volume, output, and details
On iPhone and iPad, tap the volume pill for a slider, or hold and drag to adjust it. The output row opens the system output picker. On Mac, use the volume control in the player and the available system audio-output controls.
On iPhone and iPad, tap the large artwork for song details. Hold it for an artwork preview, with pinch and double-tap zoom. These are also available from the player’s More menu.
05 / Playlists
Open Playlists and choose + to create a collection. On iPhone and iPad, type the name in the new row and press Return; iPad also provides Done. An empty name does not create a playlist.
Open the playlist and use Add Songs to choose from your library. You can also choose Add to playlist from a song’s menu. On Mac, Add All in the Add Songs window adds the currently filtered candidates.
Change the order
On iPhone and iPad, hold a playlist song and drag it to its new position. Swipe left to remove it from the playlist. Outside edit mode these changes save immediately.
Use the playlist’s pencil to edit its name, artwork, and song arrangement together. On Mac, edit mode shows controls for reordering and removing songs. Choose Done to save or Cancel to discard the draft.
Remove from playlist only changes membership. Delete song moves the song out of your library and into Recently Deleted.
06 / Names & artwork
Edit a song
Open a song’s menu and choose Edit song. Change its title, artist, album, or artwork, then choose Done. Artist and album suggestions help you choose an existing library entry.
Separate multiple artists with commas. For example, Escape Plan, The Midnight credits two artists, while Alexxon & Kircerta is one artist name.
Edit an album, artist, or playlist
Open the item and select the pencil. Its page becomes an editable draft. Choose the cover to replace it; on iPhone and iPad, the Change area opens the photo selection. Non-square artwork opens a square crop step where you can move and zoom the image.
Choose Done to commit your changes or Cancel to leave them behind. On Mac, Escape also cancels an open page draft. If saving fails, the editor keeps the draft so you can try again.
On iPhone and iPad, swiping left on a song in an album or artist page removes that assignment while retaining the song. During editing, those removals are part of the draft and can be canceled.
These library edits belong to Lumyna’s local data. They are not a way to retag the original audio files for other apps.
07 / Shape the sound
Open Settings → Playback for volume normalization, gapless playback, and crossfade.
- Normalize volume: reduces level differences between tracks.
- Gapless playback: keeps successive tracks flowing without an added pause.
- Crossfade: overlaps the end of one track with the beginning of the next, from Off to 12 seconds.
For gapless album listening, set Crossfade to Off. When crossfade is enabled, transitions use the overlap instead.
Equalizer on iPhone and iPad
Open Settings → Playback → Equalizer and enable Use equalizer. Adjust the three controls:

Reset returns the gains to their neutral position. On a wide iPad window, the curve and controls appear side by side.
Equalizer on Mac
Choose EQ in the rail. Drag a node on the ten-band frequency curve or choose a preset. Adjusting a band or applying a preset enables the equalizer. Turn Use equalizer off to hear the unprocessed sound while keeping your curve for later.
08 / Recently deleted
Deleted songs and playlists wait in Settings → Library → Recently deleted for 30 days. Each entry shows how many days remain.
- Open an item’s menu and choose Restore to bring it back. On iPhone and iPad, you can also swipe right to restore.
- Choose Delete now to remove it permanently.
- Empty permanently clears Recently Deleted after confirmation.
A restored song keeps its album, artist, and favorite status, and returns to playlists that still exist. Restore a deleted playlist and its songs as needed; songs still in Recently Deleted return to it when restored.
Deleting an album or artist with its songs also moves affected songs into Recently Deleted. Songs shared with another artist remain credited to the other artist.
Permanent deletion cannot be undone in Lumyna. For linked Mac music folders, deletion hides library entries; the original files in the folder remain untouched.
09 / Lumyna Aurora
Aurora provides playback access across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Open the Aurora card in Settings to see your access status and the current localized subscription prices.
Your first seven days
The local trial begins on first launch and lasts seven days. It does not charge you, start a subscription, or require you to cancel. The trial is per installation and does not sync across devices.
After the trial
Choose a monthly or yearly plan to continue playback. Both plans provide the same features. If you do not subscribe, your library remains available to browse, import into, and edit; playback requires active access.
Restore or manage access
Use Restore purchase in the Aurora screen if you already subscribed, including when setting up another device with the same Apple Account. Subscription access is separate from your music: restoring a purchase does not transfer your library.
Use the subscription-management option in Aurora, or your Apple Account’s subscription settings, to manage renewal or cancel. The purchase screen shows the price and renewal terms before you confirm. See the Apple Standard Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
10 / Help & your data
A file will not import
Confirm its extension is supported and that the file contains playable audio. If it is stored with a Files provider, make sure it is downloaded and available first. Check free storage for the local copy. A duplicate notice means that Lumyna already has a matching file.
A song will not play
Check volume and the current audio output, then check Aurora in Settings. For a linked Mac folder, reconnect its drive and confirm that the folder is still available. Note the error message before making changes to your library.
A purchase has not appeared
Make sure the App Store is using the Apple Account that made the purchase, connect to the internet, and choose Restore purchase in Aurora. If access is still missing, contact support with the message shown in the app.
Keep your own backup
Lumyna stores library information, artwork, playlists, and edits locally. It does not sync your collection through iCloud or a Lumyna service. Keep separate copies of your original music, and use your device’s backup tools for local app data. Do not delete the app as a first troubleshooting step: doing so can remove its local library.
